This project comprised an evaluation of the Youth Recreation Club (YRC) initiative of Toronto-based CultureLink, to determine the extent to which the YRC had achieved its objectives, from the perspective of the service provider’s intentions and program users (YRC registrants/participants). The process involved analyses of data collected by CultureLink on membership; programs/activities offered; participation; etc., and an on-line survey of all Club participants (200) at the end of the program regarding: participation in the YRC; the YRC experience; physical activity, fun, motivation and friendship; volunteering at the YRC. This information was used to assess the degree to which the Club had met its objectives in service provision, participant learning and volunteer engagement. The survey included a profile of participants that used the same questions to compare responses on levels of physical activity at intake with those at the end of the YRC program.
