Township of Tiny Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Mehak, Kelly partnered with thinc design, Oraclepoll Research and Liem Strategic Integration in developing this Master Plan. It addressed all municipal parks, trails and recreation facilities, the delivery system and implementation of recommendations – within the setting of a regional market for these services.

The scope included recreation / leisure programs and activities; indoor and outdoor facilities; parks and trails; policies and procedures; and a conditions assessment of several small municipal halls, outdoor rinks, and parks buildings in anticipation of facility improvements. The parks assessment included updating parks categories, improvement standards, property disposal recommendations, CSA playground and AODA accessibility requirements, direction on preparing park and beach park master plans, and incorporating the Trails and Active Transportation Master Plan. All recommendations were consolidated in a phased implementation plan, with estimated costs for capital and operating increases.

Community engagement included random telephone and on-line surveys of residents, surveys of volunteer program/facility user groups, and focus groups with a variety of community interests and population groups, in a largely rural setting with several settlement areas and a large seasonal population.
