About This Project

Mattawa Community Development Inc. (MCDI) is a consortium of five municipalities comprising Bonfield, Calvin, Mattawa, Mattawan and Papineau-Cameron. Working with Liem Strategic Integration, Mehak, Kelly & Associates prepared MDCI’s needs assessment and plan for an Age-Friendly Community (AFC). The Plan provides guidance to the organization and the five municipalities it represents in working together towards the development and delivery of age-friendly infrastructure, services, and programs, according to the WHO’s eight age-friendly community dimensions.

Needs and recommendations in each of the eight dimensions were based on achievements to date in the five municipalities in relevant areas of service such as AODA compliance, and programs and services directed to (or including) older adults and seniors. Since the Town of Mattawa is a service centre for the area, the study included a survey of main street businesses to determine their progress, and need for assistance, in providing age-friendly services to their patrons and clients.
